Apparently Charles Babbage once got very frustrated at the tedium of lots of maths and said something like the title of this post. He later went on to design some lovely computers, although it took people like the Science Museum in London to actually build his most advanced one. In the spirit of Babbage, here are two unusual ways of doing addition or logic.
A lovely wooden adding machine – look at the video. Also worth a look is his DIY pipe organ – not surprisingly he has an amazing workshop.
I’ve suffered from memory leaks as a programmer, but none of them actually got my feet wet. This chap wasn’t so lucky with his water-powered logic gates.
