Aha - Polish would fit, yes :)

Nope, no notes, hence the gaps!

I think the aspirin was there in an attempt to discredit the medicines, rather than being needed; certainly the glycerine from cough syrup and the rather sneakily hidden potassium permanganate should be enough. The fact that the aspirin wasn't broken up or anything, but just sat there still in its coating suggests it wasn't really part of the experiment!

I did wonder about the music one, and suspected it might be just a delaying tactic; it looked good though :)

I'm glad A was okay. Videos always seem to work as a distraction, along with stories and songs. I often think that if anybody offered her a book and a song she'd go with them without a backward glance - until she suddenly realised I wasn't there and came out with the "Where's-a-Mummy doin'?"

So were you one of those perfect HE types who takes notes? ;-)

Seeing as this is now the official account:
The first (boyhood) experiment was potassium permanganate and glycerine. This works with just these two; I can't find out whether the aspirin has anything to do with it.

The violin-playing time delay colour change is a variation on the Iodine Clock (my dad asked him). Nothing to do with the music, lol, that was just showmanship :)

Had lovely time with A - she felt so very tiny she was easy to carry, and the sling was fine. Slept for 50 minutes, chatted for 20 :) On the first floor there are some props used in past Christmas lectures, and the eguides have corresponding videos, so we unplugged the headphones on one eguide (so the sound just comes out!) and watched several of those - she seemed to enjoy them :)

Bumped into HE-er friend there who told me he is Polish. Her kids are half Polish so she should know :-).

Am sorely tempted to cut and paste your account.
